Lipinski Sound Custom Pedestal (Couch Position) - for Signature and Grand Monitors Comprised of two or five adjustable layers of sand-filled high density MDF. Stackable segments allow for adjustment of tweeter heirght up to exact ear level.
A double-wall sealed enclosure tuned for the best impulse response.
Internal enclosure of cylindrical shape made of a dense cellulose tube. Just as in the case of a submarine, a "cigar-like" shape can resist much higher pressure than a rectangular shape. In addition, due to this shape there are no standing waves.
External enclosure of 13/16" (20mm) MDF. Dual layer, pyramid-shaped back wall to prevent any possible resonance.
The space between both walls can be filled with sand or lead shot therefore completely eliminating any enclosure vibrations.
Specially selected 15" woofer with dual voice coils delivers a much better damping factor — a key parameter for a subwoofer.
Dual, all brass, gold plated posts, accept banana plugs or up to 2 AWG wires.
Filled with 100% natural long hair wool for fine-tuning.
Lipinski Sound L-2405 - Powered 24" Speaker Stand for L-505Tests indicate that many amplifiers built into the back of a speaker produce up to 15 percent more first and second harmonic distortion.Lipinski's extensive experiments with top rated speaker cables clearly indicate that a quality, short length cable elicits better sonics than a longer cable of higher quality. Line level cable length is not as destructive to sound quality as the length of the speaker cable. How can you place the amplifier close to the speaker, without attaching it to the enclosure?

This is the newest Series Alpha power amplifier using new Class AAB technology. Lipinski power amplifiers are dual topology, which means there are two separate power amplifiers Inside. The L-400 Alpha subwoofer amplifier works in parallel mode, which significantly enhances damping factor - the most important parameter to control low frequencies. It also has an oversized power supply which delivers super tight and further extended bass. The input stage is built on Lipinski Square patented circuitry, discrete Class A low feedback OpAmps.
The L-401 monoblock, due to the same dual topology design as the subwoofer amp, can be used in biamplificaion mode. Bi-amp mode increases microdynamics. The L-401 can also be switched for bridged mode, allowing for 600 Watts of unfettered power per channel. The newest Series Alpha power amplifiers use new Class AAB technology as well as the Lipinski Square patented circuitry, discrete Class A low feedback OpAmps.
Since we believe that the best speaker cable is short cable, the L-401 is designed to be built into our 24" or 30" speaker stands, leaving a low footprint for our L-505A, L-707A or L-707A Grand system.
Andrew Lipinski on preamp design: "In order to decide what technology to use to build a timeless microphone preamp, I took the time to evaluate all components from the ground up: preamps built with transformers, transformerless designs, old classics and contemporary designs, preamps built on tubes, on discrete transistors, on integrated circuits and on a combination of all of these. Again, this was some of the most extensive research I accomplished throughout my life. Finally my research and development concluded with the following design:"
Both units (L-408 and L-409) have front panel switchable, two position turn ratio. They have different cores, therefore they sound different. In case of the second, saturating it with high input signal recalls the effect of the old, pricey classics with some contemporary "edge".
Each transformer has two amplifying stages, two separate 10 step gain controls, and two meters representing each stage: The first stage is built on discrete transistors and has class A circuitry with minimal negative feedback, and with a separate unbalanced output. The second stage uses the fastest available current feedback and voltage feedback integrated amplifiers, and has three separated balanced outputs, each built on slightly different IC. Selecting transformer ratio, setting a particular gain at the first and a separate gain at the second stage and selecting particular balanced output gives a talented engineer/producer an enormous creative palette of sounds.. Lipinski Sound L-70 Self Powered Studio Monitor
Two-way active monitor, sporting an elastically suspended amplifier - eliminating enclosure vibrations to the electronics, vibrations that degrade sound.
Unique qualities of the Lipinski L-70 Reference Monitor:
We were reluctant to build amplifiers into the speaker enclosure, for a considerable amount of time. Until we challenged ourselves to
improve on the existing offer of Self-powered monitors available today.
After numerous blind-tests, we separated the amplifiers from their enclosures (while keeping faithful to our sealed cabinet philosophy), noticing
that the monitors started sounding much better.
Therefore finally we developed a concept of an integrated amplifier, which is elastically placed on top of the speaker enclosure, and connected
with very short and ’soft’ speaker cables to the drivers, rendering them better at reducing vibration.
Another reason for separating the enclosure from the amplifier is to use exclusively class A electronics: class A power amp, low order class A
crossover, and filter components. All of these can run hot during loud playback.
Therefore in addition, we installed a silent, large blade fan that turns very slowly during soft playback, while its speed incrementally increases when
playback grows louder. Due to this feature, it’s impossible to hear the fan itself.
For the L-70, as well as for all of our self powered monitors, we implemented a parametric EQ to cure the most common room acoustics problem:
interaction of two largest parallel surfaces - the ceiling and floor.
The EQ can be adjusted between 60-160Hz. If floor to ceiling distance is 10’, dividing speed of sound (1,125 ft/s) by 10’, gives the frequency
in which we can begin to expect some problems - in this case it’s 112,5Hz, for which our EQ compensates accordingly.
Since our expertise shows that a vented enclosure delivers bass distortion, the L-70 and all our speakers are sealed. Furthermore, we developed
a special mid-woofer custom-made for us under our design, by Danish manufacturer Scan-Speak.
While the tweeter is also custom-made for us by Scan-Speak, and uses a neodymium magnet, which delivers much lower distortion.
After numerous tests, it is our acknowledgement, that the L-70 is predestined to become a new generation of nearfield / midfield monitors.
But we also intend to make it upgradable to a full range reference, All-Class-A, tri-amplified monitor, with a soffit-mount feature.
A Self Powered supplementary subwoofer will be available this Winter 2014/2015. Since the L-70’s crossover point is relatively high at ~4kHz, and
crossover point for 1000W subwoofer will be at ~140Hz, the power handling of the full range system will be very high.
Considering Lipinski Sound All-Class-A discrete designs, the concept is based on the Lipinski Square – pure class A Operational Amplifier. Akin to the
Jensen 990, API 2520 or GML 8202 discrete opamps, except that instead of class AB, Lipinski is truly class A, and requires very little negative
feedback – vacuum tube like.
Moreover, there isn’t a single capacitor or coil in the signal path. It has much lower phase shift and distortion than any similar OpAmp on the market.
This patented technology took years to develop, and to our knowledge the L-70 is the only Self Powered monitor on the market offering all class A electronics.

" ... the best louspeakers I`ve ever heard .. " - Bob Katz, Chief Engineer, Digital Domain in Florida, June 2004
A sealed enclosure tuned for the best impulse response rather than a low-end extension. We strongly believe that various kinds of vented enclosures always cause coloration that does not deliver reference accuracy.
Sturdy enclosure made of 1" (25mm) thick MDF with internal bracing to bring unwanted resonance and box coloration to an almost nonexistent level.
Stiff Glass Fiber Cone mid-woofers with low dampening rubber surround, diecast chassis, and a low distortion magnet.
Neodymium Ring Radiator - super low distortion tweeters with frequency response up to 40kHz and extra wide dispersion.
The absence of a grill in front of the tweeter. Our laboratory and listening tests prove that even the most transparent grill fabric causes high frequency comb filtering.
An acoustic, rather than an electronic, time-coherence of tweeters.
Unique tweeter surrounding. Perfecting the tweeter environment appeared quite possibly to be the most challenging aspect of the design. The goal was to eliminate the edging effect by carefully shaping the tweeter surrounding with specially designed Belgian foam.
A low-order crossover for the best phase response. We also selected the lowest possible crossover point to deliver the best transient response.
Premium quality crossover parts. Foil Inductors wound on a wooden core - with their skin effect conductivity - provide performance unmatched by less expensive wire wound coils, and provide much lower coloration than iron core inductors. We also use non-inductive resistors, premium audiophile grade capacitors and special flat, Super OFC internal wires.
Matching internal dampening design. Internal dampening is outsourced and precut to absolutely identical shape and weight for the best speaker-to-speaker consistency.
Dual, all-brass, gold-plated posts, which accept banana plugs or up to 2 AWG wires.
Magnetic Shielding. All our speakers are magnetically shielded for demanding pro video applications.
All parameters perfected in anechoic chamber.
