Enhancement of Sound Quality by high-resolution Audio Re-Clocking
It is widely known that a master clock changes the sound quality of digital audio devices more or less to a higher level. But carving out finest audio details in your recordings to reproduce individual instruments as clear as possible and to raise the precision of their positions within the spatial sound to a maximum is possible at best with high-resolution re-clocking of your digital audio material. That is what MUTEC's new audio re-clocking algorithms paired with the 1G-Clock technology perform in the MC-3+ Smart Clock. Thus, the sensing of the incoming audio is carried out with highest resolution which leads to ultimate precision during merging the audio data with the new ultra-low-jitter clock. The result is unparalleled richness of details and spatiality of the re-clocked audio material.
The real next Step in Audio Clock Generation
While others argue for their products with standardly known technical aspects, MUTEC really sets the benchmark of digital audio clocking to a higher level using the proprietary 1G-Clock technology for the first time in the MC-3+ Smart Clock. Running a frequency synthesis on a specifically calculated high clock rate, eliminates completely typical jitter inducing artifacts which are present in all standardly implemented DDS processes. Additionally, we took a look around the clock generation circuit and developed totally new ultra-low-noise power supplies and PCB design rules aligned to high-speed communication technologies to virtually eliminate all electrical noise. Thus, the new 1G-Clock technology helps you to bring jitter down to an unique low level, which leads to unprecedented transparency in your audio recordings.
Usability in Studio and Live Event Environments
The new MC-3+ Smart Clock works not only as generator, but also as clock distributor. Unlike other products, the MC-3+ effectively regenerates incoming clock signals to higher purity as the signal source. This helps to stabilize already existing clock systems and improves the level of sound reproduction quality in your studio environment. In cases when the MC-3+'s digitally-compensated clock accuracy is not sufficient, it is possible to lock the system to references of higher accuracy like so-called Atomic clocks or GPS receivers to raise the timing accuracy to the highest possible level. Additional to that, for the use during live events or in mobile trucks, the MC-3+ features anytime-fail-safe clock generation in every state of operation. Entering the hold-over-mode and re-synchronization of returning clock references is carried out so smoothly that live recordings will surely not be affected. Thus, the new MUTEC MC-3+ Smart Clock ensures flawless synchronization of connected devices at any time, while enhancing the sound of your audio production impressively.

The MC-6 converts AES3, AES3id and S/P-DIF digital audio stereo signals whereas uni- and bidirectional conversion modes are available. All signals can be processed up to 192.0kHz. Based on latest FPGA designs, the MC-6 achieves levels of performance regarding its sound and signal quality, unique flexibility, clocking features and the 4 channel sampling rate conversion engine (SRC), which are outstanding in today’s industry! FEATURES:
• AES/EBU, AES/EBUid and S/P-DIF interfaces working in one box. • Format and sampling rate conversions up to 192.0kHz. • Signal improvement through audiophil-optimized PLL synthesizers. • Extremely flexible synchronization options. • Separate AES11 reference clock input for e.g. broadcast use. • Converts standalone and bidirectionally with different sampling rates: X-SRC.• 4 channel sampling rate conversion engine (SRC) for bidirectional conversions. • Continuous clock signal supply in absence of the reference audio or clock signal. • Runs standalone in all SRC operation modes without needing an external master clock reference. • AES11, Grade 1, internal reference clock (0.5ppm). • Word Clock output useable as master clock reference. • Easy configurable. • User settings will be stored in FLASH memory after switching-off. • Rack space saving 1/2 19” case allowing for mounting two devices side by side in one rack unit. • Built-in international power supply. The enormous feature-set with various operation modes enables the use of the MC-6 in many studio applications. Generally, incoming digital audio signals are converted unidirectionally to all three audio formats simultaneously, with or without SRC functionality. If clock rate conversion is necessary, the SRC engine can be locked to Word Clock, AES11 (separate input available) and any digital audio input in both, uni- and bidirectional operation modes. One of the unique features of the MC-6 is its capability to lock two digital audio stereo sources with different clock rates and to convert their audio formats and clock rates bidirectionally in realtime with help of the X-SRC mode. Therefore, the unit includes a 4 channel SRC engine as a standard, whereas two audiophil-optimized PLL synthesizers secure best sound quality in all operations modes. The MC-6’s unique X-SRC Mode The MC-6 extracts the master clocks out of each of the two incoming digital audio stereo streams and uses these clock references to synchronize the SRCs in front of each of the format-same outputs. Thus, the two digital audio sources are held permanently in sync to each other by the MC-6 without the necessity to lock any of the involved devices to an external master clock reference. This is especially useful when interconnecting two non-synchronized or non-synchronizable digital audio devices, each running on its own internal clock base. As further special feature, the MC-6 offers an internal, ultra low-jitter clock base with outstanding accuracy to which the SRCs can be locked to, if no external reference is available. Running the MC-6 in this mode, its Word Clock output can be used e.g. as master clock reference to synchronize any other digital audio device in the studio. Additionally, the MC-6 can be used for upsampling of digital audio signals up to 96.0kHz or even 192.0kHz. This function is recommended for supplying DA converters. The upsampling process eliminates possibly existing signal jitter and improves the audiophil quality overall. This all makes the MC-6 for sure a unique and the most flexible digital audio converter currently available in the pro-audio industry! APPLICATIONS:
• Interconnection of consumer and professional digital audio devices. • Audiophil clock recovery and signal regeneration. • Upsampling for improving the acoustical result of DA conversions. • Integration of non-synchronizable devices, like musical instruments, DAT players, MD recorders or DAWs into digital studio environments. • Realtime bidirectional signal transfers between sends/returns of digital mixing consoles and effect processors. • Uni- and bidirectional interconnection of computerbased sound cards with professional digital audio equipment. • Usable within small studio set-ups up to broadcast installations.
Word Clock Distribution Amplifier and Audio Clock Converter The MUTEC MC-7 is a very flexible, high-performance Word Clock distribution amplifier and audio clock converter. In today’s studio environments, clock distribution is more significant as mostly assumed. Actually, a clock signal does more than only synchronizing digital audio devices, it does also influence the acoustical result of your recordings. Due to this, the MC-7 is designed to cover both aspects with excellence! FEATURES:
• Distributes and converts Word Clock, AES3/11 and S/PDIF. • Extracts and re-generates clock signals out of digital audio signals. • Improves audio quality of connected devices. • Handles clock rates from 32.0kHz up to 192.0kHz/768.0kHz. • Supports so-called Super Clocks for older Digidesign ProTools systems. • Offers 4 inputs and 11 outputs in total. • Protects from reference signal dropouts. • Supplies interruption-free output signals. • AES11, Grade 1, internal reference clock (0.5ppm). • Compact case size fits in every studio set-up. • Built-in international power supply. The MC-7 converts and distributes Word Clock, AES3/11 and S/P-DIF signals. An incoming reference signal passes latest audiophil-optimized PLL circuits, to be distributed and output as low-jitter, high-quality clock signal, regardless of the condition of the reference signal. Thereby, connected audio devices will benefit from the MC-7’s signal regeneration abilities, which improve their sound qualities audibly. Furthermore, the MC-7 functions as multiplier for the clock rate of the incoming reference signal. Therefore, the outputs can be individually multiplied by x1, x2, x4, which leads to a very wide range of possible output Word Clock rates from 32.0kHz up to 768.0kHz. This enables e.g. the contemporaneous output of an incoming 48.0kHz reference signal with 96.0kHz, 192.0 kHz and as so-called Digidesign Super Clock. A special ‘Pass’ functionality secures the availability of an incoming digital audio signal for further use. For live or broadcast use, a special ‘Hold’ functionality can be activated additionally with every operation mode. This function guarantees interruption-free output signal supply in cases when the external reference is of insufficient quality or lost completely. Thus, the MC-7 is predestined to be used as centralized clock stabilizer and distributor, where reliable signal availability is a must. Due to its synchronisation features and connection flexibility, the MC-7 offers unique possibilities to provide interconnections between digital audio devices on a reliable and useful basis. This all makes MC-7 for sure an unique and outstanding digital audio clock distributor and converter enabling to handle every clocking issue in your studio set-up with ease! APPLICATIONS:
• Stellate Word Clock distribution. • Sound improvement of digital audio devices. • Audiophil clock recovery and regeneration. • Interconnection of consumer and professional digital audio devices. • Line extension for e.g. theatre or broadcast installations. • Output expansion for MUTEC's iCLOCK, iCLOCKdp, iD, iDdp, MC-3, MC-3.1 and MC-3.2.
