This is the 500 Series version of the 1073MP (a mic pre-amp version of the 1073 equaliser) having the same well-known characteristic Class A sound with its harmonically rich low end, slight resonant highs, and maintained focused mids.
Two selectable impedances makes the 1073MPL work well with a variety of microphones.
As a coloured and versatile mic-pre, the 1073MPL maintains its sonic signature across a wide bandwidth.
Features:
All Class A, transformer-coupled design in a 500 series module.
Original Marconi knobs.
Input impedance selector switch between 1200 and 300 ohms.
Line level capability for extra versatility as a line preamp.
High impedance DI for guitar and synth.
Same Carnhill St Ives transformers as the 1073 and 1084.
Same modular design and hand-wiring BAE is known for.
73EQL 500 Series Module
AN INSTANT CLASSIC WITH A SHARED LEGACY
“The 73EQL shares the same pedigree and workmanship of our classic 1073 lineup,” explained Mark Loughman, President of BAE Audio. “Achieving an authentic 1073 sound inside the 500 series format was a significant milestone for our company five years ago, and today we’ve managed to extend this capability into what we feel is the best sounding 500 series EQ on the market. With its extended control over all three frequency bands, the 73EQL delivers world class vintage BAE sound in a compact form factor.”
The highly anticipated 73EQL follows the success of the 1073MPL 500 series preamplifier, which was introduced four years ago and which was quickly adopted as a foundational element for many commercial and project studios around the globe. BAE Audio has been building the 1073 for two decades; consecutively longer than any other company in history. The company’s 500 series rendition of this classic circuitry is the result of many years of research and development, over which time the company strived to retain the authentic sound character of the 1073 in an impossibly small package — without compromising quality, materials or workmanship.

73EQL Features
The 73EQL delivers impressive tonal shaping options into a diminutive size, making it the ultimate accompaniment to a BAE 1073MPL 500 series preamplifier or as a stand-alone EQ to complement just any other input source. With a 3-band EQ section and highpass filter controls, the 73EQL is able to shape nuances of sound sources while imparting the classic sound character of the 1073 — this makes it the ultimate companion for on-location, studio recording, mixing or mastering applications.

1023 FeaturesThe 1023 is completely handwired using Carnhill (St. Ives) transformers. It has the exact same mic/line preamp as the 1073, but with significantly more frequencies in the mid and high sections.Aside from simply offering more frequency settings to play with, these expanded EQ sections also allow you to play the mid bell curve directly against the high and low shelves where they overlap. This capability opens the tone shaping possibilities in very interesting and musical ways.
High Frequency: +/-16dB shelving with selectable frequencies of 10kHz, 12kHz, 16kHz, 20kHz and 24kHz.
Low Frequency: +/-16dB shelving with selectable frequencies of 35Hz, 60Hz, 110Hz & 220Hz.
Mid Range: +/-12dB or +/-18dB peaking with switchable selectable centre frequencies of 160Hz, 270Hz, 360Hz, 510Hz, 700Hz, 1.6kHz, 3.2kHz, 4.8kHz, 7.2kHz, 8.2kHz, 10kHz.
High Pass Filter: 18dB per octave slope, switchable between 45Hz, 70Hz, 160Hz & 360Hz.
EQ Button: Switches the equaliser on or off
Phase Button: 180°

1032 FeaturesThe new 1032 4-band Mic/Line preamp by BAE was inspired by the frequencies of the classic 1081. It uses the same high quality components and manufacturing techniques used in other BAE modules featuring the same Class A transformer-coupled circuits and same modular cards for long-term serviceability.Along with the passive inductor high-pass filter, the 4-band equalizer provides greater coverage. The high-mid and low-mid frequencies overlap for flexibility in correcting problem frequencies. The 1032 also provides a more comprehensive high frequency shelf up to 24kHz for extended high frequency correction without compromising the midrange. Many people loved the EQ portion of the 1081 but the amplifier was class A/B. Our clients told us that they prefer the class A output and so we now have a 1081 inspired equalizer with a 1073 preamp.
Inspired by the 1081 EQ points using the same inductor specifications.
Class A transformer-coupled.
Hand wired, all discrete using modular cards.
4-band with HPF.
Low and High Mid-band overlapping frequencies.
Extended selection for high frequency shelving.
High quality Swiss made Elma® rotary switches.
"Counting Crows built a portable studio 10 years ago and we filled it with racks of BAE pre amps and eqs. The stuff is built to last and has been a huge part of every record we have made since." - Dave Bryson, Counting Crows
